By accessing our Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

We collect information you provide and information collected automatically.

• Account Information: Email address, display name, and authentication credentials when you create an account
• Profile Data: Outdoor activities, interests, experience level, preferred regions, location, and other preferences you provide during onboarding or profile setup
• User Content: Gear locker items, trip plans, saved locations, checklists, outdoor activity logs, and other content you create within your account
• AI Conversations: Prompts you submit to Recreation AI and the AI-generated responses you receive
• Contact & Newsletter: Name, email, subject, and message from contact form submissions; email address for newsletter subscriptions
• Payment Information: Processed securely by Stripe — we do not store your credit card details
• Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, searches performed, content interactions, and visit duration
• Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers for troubleshooting
• Analytics: Aggregated performance data via Vercel Analytics (privacy-focused, no advertising cookies)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, develop, and improve our Services.

• Operate and deliver our Services — conditions dashboard, AI responses, trip planning tools, permit information, and personalized content
• Personalize your experience — your profile preferences, activities, interests, and usage patterns are processed by our AI systems to tailor content, search results, recommendations, and AI responses to you.
• Improve our AI models — we use account activity, profile context, and AI conversation data (inputs and outputs) to train, evaluate, and improve Recreation AI.
• Process subscription payments and manage your account
• Send transactional emails and The Weekly Dispatch Report newsletter (with your consent)
• Respond to contact form inquiries and support requests
• Analyze aggregated usage patterns to improve user experience
• Enforce our Terms of Service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations

4. AI, Personalization & Model Improvement

Recreation Leader uses artificial intelligence to power core features of our Services. By creating an account and using our Services, you acknowledge and agree that this data processing is required for Service operation.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data: Supabase (database hosting, authentication, user data storage), Stripe (payment processing, PCI-DSS compliant), Vercel (website hosting and privacy-focused analytics), Resend (transactional and marketing email delivery), and AI Providers (see Section 4).

Each service has its own privacy policy. We select partners who take data protection seriously.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use minimal cookies for essential functionality: authentication session (Supabase), Vercel Analytics (cookieless, privacy-focused), and no advertising cookies.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encrypted data at rest (Supabase), secure payment processing (Stripe PCI-DSS compliance), role-based access controls, and row-level security policies on all user data.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Cancel membership / downgrade: Paid features end at the close of the billing period, but your account remains available. Delete account: Permanently and irreversibly deletes your account data. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months.

9. Your Rights

You may have rights to access, correction, deletion, export, and unsubscribe. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or through a notice on our website.
